Guest Mix 002: Chris Duggan

As the days begin to extend and the sun seems to be trying it’s best to fight through the recent storms, memories of Ibiza awaken and stir up a thirst for the new season ahead in 2019.

So much has changed on the island over the past decade, and to reflect the evolution of the modern day sound, we present this second guest mix in our series by a veteran on the White Isle, Chris Duggan.

A delightful journey through the elements of classic house through to the deeper aspects and also some Disco and Balearic vibes, this mix will really get you in the mood for partying on the While Isle this summer.

Influenced at an early age by the likes of Frankie Knuckles, Danny Rampling, Carl Cox, Paul Trouble Anderson, Roger Sanchez, Fat Boy Slim, Joey Negro and many more, Chris Duggan has really been fully immersed in the house music scene over the last two decades.
“When life presented dance music to me for the first time, I knew it was love, I knew it was going to be a long term relationship and I knew it would change my life.”
Like many of us at that time, he taped the radio on Saturday nights when he was 10 and always had a Walkman in hand.
“I randomly used to picked out 7 inch vinyls from my Dad’s record collection and sat all alone listening to the different styles of music from Motown to Bowie, Queen to Johnny Cash so I was never too far away from music.
I got my first set of Decks for Christmas when I was 13 and at weekends I went hunting for the next big tune in my local record store Global Grooves in Chester with my pocket money. Thank you Lee Ellis for letting me spend so many hours in your store.”
Fast forward a few years, a few quite dodgy outfits and even more dodgy haircuts, he reached an age where he could actually get in to nightclubs and a good friend introduced him Feel in Preston, where a full induction to into the clubbing community and DJ Culture took place.
“From that point I wanted to be a DJ more than anything else.  In true Kevin and Perry style, I thought all my dream would be found in Ibiza, so at the age of 19 I worked a season on The White Isle gaining priceless experience with Cafe Mambo and Cream at Amnesia. The best summer of my life it must be said!”
Chris has now succeeded as a pro behind the decks by playing gigs in London, Edinburgh, Liverpool, Chester and Manchester. With a brand new home studio in place, we are sure to see  and hear some great things emerging from Duggan HQ over this next year.
“The dream is  still Ibiza and my fingers are firmly crossed for a return to the White Isle. Which brings me here and I am  super excited to present my guest mix for Glitterballs!
My guest mix represents a modern day me, all I love about dance music today and most importantly a chance to say thank you for such a perfect and enjoyable long term relationship, long may it last.
I’d like to give an extra special thanks to Defected Records for 20 years of endless beautiful house music and what I can only describe as my education.”

Thank you so much to Chris Duggan for this sensational guest mix!
